In the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), Max Rockatansky, a drifter (played by Tom Hardy), finds himself captured by the War Boys, the army of the tyrannical Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne). Joe hoards water and controls a breeding population of women. Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron), one of Joe’s lieutenants, defects and steals his prized “breeders” in a tricked-out war rig, seeking to return them to their homeland.
