The Last Survivors (2014)
The film’s central character is 17-year-old Kendal (played by Haley Lu Richardson), a resourceful and determined survivor living in the ruins of an old farmhouse in Oregon. Water is the most precious commodity, and nearly all sources of it have dried up. Kendal’s primary mission is to protect a well that has somehow managed to remain functional, keeping her and a few others alive. Living with her sick friend Dean (Booboo Stewart), she hopes to one day fix an old airplane left on the property, believing it might be her only chance to escape the endless drought.
As society has collapsed, what remains of humanity is fractured into small groups and individuals, all scrambling for survival. A brutal land baron named Carson (played by Jon Gries) and his ruthless henchmen are on a mission to control the remaining water sources.
Armed with a shotgun and a fierce will to survive, she becomes the last line of defense against Carson’s forces, transforming into a symbol of resilience and hope in a desolate world. The film builds tension as Kendal’s battle for survival escalates, with each encounter becoming a test of her resolve and ingenuity.
