“Lucifer” is a television series that premiered in 2016 and is based on the DC Comics character Lucifer Morningstar, created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg for the comic book series “The Sandman,” which later spun off into its own series.
The show follows Lucifer Morningstar, played by Tom Ellis, who is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell. He resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for Los Angeles, where he indulges in his love for wine, women, and song. 
In LA, Lucifer runs a nightclub called Lux and becomes a consultant to the LAPD. His ability to compel people to reveal their deepest desires proves useful in solving crimes alongside Detective Chloe Decker, played by Lauren German. 
As Lucifer adjusts to his new life on Earth, he also grapples with personal issues, including his complicated relationship with his family, especially with his brother Amenadiel, played by DB Woodside, and his demon friend Mazikeen, played by Lesley-Ann Brandt.
