Men in Black II (2002)

Men in Black II (2002)

Men in Black II (2002) tries way too hard to be funny, and it ends up feeling like a cheap imitation of the original film. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back, but the chemistry between them feels off. The humor relies heavily on slapstick and silly gags, which might land flat for fans who enjoyed the more sophisticated wit of the first film.

The plot is convoluted and predictable, and the focus on the talking pug, Frank, feels like a desperate attempt to inject some cuteness into the film. Die-hard Men in Black fans might be disappointed with MIB II’s goofy direction. However, if you’re looking for a mindless summer comedy with some familiar faces and flashy effects, it might be a passable watch.
