Planet Terror (2007)

“Planet Terror” (2007) is a cult classic action-horror film directed by Robert Rodriguez. It is one half of the double feature “Grindhouse,” a collaboration with Quentin Tarantino’s “Death Proof.” The film pays homage to the exploitation films of the 1970s, characterized by its over-the-top violence, gritty aesthetic, and dark humor.

The story is set in a small Texas town where a deadly biochemical agent is released, turning the townspeople into grotesque, flesh-eating zombies. A group of survivors, including Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan), a go-go dancer with a machine gun for a leg, and Wray (Freddy Rodriguez), her mysterious ex-boyfriend, band together to fight off the zombie horde and uncover the truth behind the outbreak.

The ensemble cast includes Marley Shelton, Josh Brolin, Michael Biehn, Jeff Fahey, and Bruce Willis, among others. Each character brings their own unique flair to the chaotic battle against the infected.

“Planet Terror” is known for its stylized violence, practical effects, and fast-paced action. Rodriguez intentionally added film scratches, missing reels, and other elements to recreate the feel of old grindhouse cinema. The film blends horror, action, and comedy, delivering a visceral and entertaining experience.
