Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Just finished fending off zombies with Shaun (Simon Pegg) in Shaun of the Dead (2004) and it’s a laugh riot! This British comedy follows Shaun, a lovable slacker, as he navigates a zombie apocalypse while trying to win back his girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield). Think Dawn of the Dead meets Bridget Jones’s Diary, with a healthy dose of British wit and pop culture references. The film is packed with laugh-out-loud moments as Shaun stumbles through the apocalypse, oblivious to the danger for most of the time.
The chemistry between Pegg and Nick Frost, who plays Shaun’s equally clueless friend Ed, is undeniable, and their banter provides some of the film’s funniest moments. Shaun of the Dead is a hilarious and surprisingly touching take on the zombie genre, reminding us that even facing the undead doesn’t mean you can’t save your relationship (and grab a pint at the Winchester afterwards).
