Powder (1995)

An enigmatic young man, Powder living in a small town possessing an incredible intellect can sense people’s thoughts around him. This odd appearance soon becomes a cause of worry.

This mid 90’s Sci-fi drama was a modest box office success even though it was riddled with controversy due to Disney’s choice of director (Victor Salva) and reviews were mixed from mainstream critics, all this being said it’s always been a favourite of mine and there’s nothing else quite like it.

Sean Patrick Flanery puts in an unforgettable performance as the titular character and he’s well supported by Mary Steenburgen, Jeff Goldblum, Susan Tyrrell and Ray Wise, add to this another terrific score by Jerry Goldsmith and this is another 90’s gem that’s massively underrated.
